Initial Examination and Consultation

This is the first step to determine if you are a candidate for dental implants or not. This usually includes a full periodontal exam, dental X-rays, impressions of your teeth and a 3D scan(CBCT) of your jawbone. The scan helps us plan the surgery from beginning to end, while visualizing the nerve, sinus and other important vital structures. A Treatment Plan will be developed with your general dentist to meet your esthetic and functional needs.

Single Tooth Replacement

There are basically two options for replacing one tooth. A traditional bridge involves cutting down the adjacent teeth to fit the cemented bridge in place. This option does not replace the bone that was surrounding the root. A single dental implant and crown function like your natural tooth and will never decay.

Multiple Missing Teeth

When several teeth are missing, there are several treatment options. The first is a conventional fixed bridge. Then there are removable appliances and finally implant supported bridges and partial and full dentures supported by implants.

A removable prosthesis accelerates the bone resorption process that occurs when teeth are lost. The clasps on the partial denture place significant pressure on the natural teeth, loosening them over time. Most patients do not feel comfortable with removable partial dentures.

Surgical Tooth Removal

Dr. Caryn Miller will surgically extract your tooth using a special technique the minimizes discomfort and promotes rapid healing. Usually after an extraction, a bone graft will be placed into the socket to regenerate and preserve the bone so a future implant can be placed.

Sometimes a dental implant can be placed at the time the tooth is removed. This all depends on the bone quality after the extraction is done. If this procedure is accomplished, it will accelerate the placement of the crown in your mouth.

ALL - ON - 4 Implant Procedure

This term refers to a permanent solution for patients when all the permanent teeth have to be extracted due to advanced periodontal disease and or severely broken down teeth.  Four to six implants are place in one jaw at the time of the extractions. Then a prosthesis is screwed on to the implants and the patient walks out of the office the same day with teeth. Several months of healing are necessary before this temporary prosthesis is converted to the permanent one. Four to six implants will support an arch of 10-14 teeth. Dr. Miller works closely with your dentist or a prosthodontist who is a specialist in replacement of teeth.
